Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA)
Since 1992, PASA has worked to promote profitable farms that produce healthy food for all people while respecting the natural environment. It is the largest statewide, member-based sustainable farming organization in the United States. The Kretschmanns have been actively involved in this organization since its inception, with Don serving on the board of directors for the maximum number of years/ terms permitted and giving numerous presentations, workshops, and farm tours over the years. In 2013, the Kretschmanns were recipients of the Sustainable Agricultural Leadership Award from PASA for their work as sustainable ag leaders for over 40 years.
Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA)
OEFFA is dedicated to promoting and supporting sustainable, ecological and healthful food systems by encouraging strong rural communities. Kretchmann Organic Farm is certified organic through OEFFA’s organic certification program (a USDA NOP-Accredited Certifier), which is one of the oldest, largest, and most respected programs in the nation and ensures that organic producers meet high standards. OEFFA also organizes Ohio’s largest annual sustainable agriculture conference, at which the Kretschmanns have given presentations.

PCO “assures the integrity of organic agricultural products through education, inspection, and certification of growers, processors and handlers.”
Slow Food is a global grassroots movement which links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment. Through this organization, the Kretschmanns enjoyed a farmer-to-farmer international exchange to the birthplace of the movement, Italy, where they experienced farms and food in the countryside!
The Kretschmanns strongly believe in giving back to the community. We offer our CSA customers the option of donating their share to the food bank when they go on vacation. We also have many of our fields ‘gleaned’, or harvested by volunteers when we are done with them for the year. We encourage folks to get involved in giving back and look into volunteering your time.
The Lewis family raises all natural grass-fed beef and poultry ‘across the road and down the lane’ from the Kretschmanns.
Wild Purveyors provides specialty wild-foraged foods such as mushrooms and cheese to Kretschmanns’ CSA subscribers.
One of our favorite Zelienople restaurants, Burgh’ers specializes in unique, seasonal burgers and delicious drinks using only local and when possible organic ingredients from area farmers and foragers.
Our favorite Ohio based family-run source for non-electric and ‘old fashioned’ goods.
